Welcome to The Muddy Bearcat!

This site was created to showcase the creativity happening in the ceramics studio at William Penn Senior High School.

Handbuilding

Our students learn handbuilding techniques such as pinch, coil and slab. We currently use 100 Artist White moist clay from Standard Ceramic Supply Company and bisque fire to cone 04 in our Skutt KM 1227.

Glazing

Our students learn basic glaze and surface techniques and are allowed to embellish with non-ceramic materials as needed to meet their artistic goals. We currently use Amaco and Dick Blick liquid glazes that are fired to cone 05.

Wheel Throwing

While our students do spend most of the year working with handbuilding techniques, we do have one Skutt Prodigy wheel that allows for student experimentation.
